Julia McNeely

My name is Julia McNeely. I am a Toronto-based artist, art teacher, and mother. I graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1986. I work mainly with acrylics and watercolours but when teaching, myself and my students use a variety of different materials. My work is made predominantly with acrylic on canvas. I paint what I know; my “life moments” series; animals; and florals are all things that I love and feel reflect myself and my life. This work will give you an insight into my life through all the things and people that I love. My “life moments” series provides viewers with a glance into love, life, and loss within my world but can also be adapted into their own world. My flowers and animal paintings are created to bring light and love into a home and to trigger a smile or a laugh. As a single mother, a solo caregiver for my father, and a full time artist and art teacher, my work and my life have been linked for 28 years and I believe this work displays the resemblance between the two. I hope that my work will bring people joy, and I am so happy to share it with you.
